Take your special education expertise to the next level and make a difference in the lives of middle school students. A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher with an LBS1 endorsement to provide instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. You’ll be responsible for implementing effective, standards-based lessons, managing IEP documentation, and partnering with general education staff—all while fostering a supportive and structured classroom environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and deliver instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals and accommodations
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions based on student data
• Ensure accurate and timely special education documentation
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, families, and administrators
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and effectively communicate student progress
• Create a positive, inclusive environment that encourages academic and social development
• Address behavioral, academic, and emotional needs through targeted supports
• Engage in professional learning opportunities, team meetings, and district initiatives
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (EL endorsement a plus)
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
• Previous experience at the middle school level preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues and families
• Experience with diverse learning needs is desirable
• Physical ability to fulfill the essential functions of a classroom educator, including mobility and light lifting (up to 20 pounds)
