Accountant II

Broad Function

The Accountant is responsible for preparing internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from various departments. The position also prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.

Essential Functions

• Promote, demonstrate, and instill Brock's Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
• Compile and execute journal entries
• Execute account reconciliations
• Maintain the period close schedule and activities
• Serve as a secondary intercompany contact with trading partners
• Assist with the development and implementation of accounting processes and internal controls
• Prepare scheduled payroll tax filings and payments for both state and federal reporting
• Research and reply to state and federal notices
• Maintain tax withholding tables
• Prepare and file registration applications for new state unemployment tax account
• Provide audit support

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• CPA preferred
• 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance
