Now Hiring: Cook - Early Childhood Education Pay Range: $18-$20/hour Status: Full-Time Location: YWCA South Minneapolis What You'll Do As a Cook in our Early Childhood Education program, you'll ensure children are served nutritious, high-quality meals each day. You'll manage kitchen operations, maintain CACFP compliance, and contribute to a welcoming, safe environment for all. Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch, snack) in accordance with CACFP guidelines Order food and supplies in a timely, cost-effective manner Maintain kitchen cleanliness and documentation in alignment with health and safety standards Adjust menus and prep to accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs Occasionally support classroom staff as needed Core Competencies Nutrition & Food Safety: Applies CACFP, nutrition, and food handling standards to ensure safe, healthy meals Independence & Accountability: Manages kitchen tasks efficiently with minimal supervision Adaptability & Teamwork: Adjusts to daily needs while supporting a collaborative, child-focused environment Who You Are You are a dependable and detail-oriented food service professional who takes pride in preparing nutritious meals that support child development. You're comfortable working independently, maintaining documentation, and adapting to the needs of a dynamic early education environment. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or GED Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire Ability to obtain Food Protection Manager Certification within 90 days of hire Completion of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Basics training Preferred: Current First Aid and CPR certifications Current Food Protection Manager Certification Experience in cost-effective food purchasing and kitchen operations At least one year of cooking experience in a school or childcare setting Why YWCA Minneapolis?
