Our client is a fast-growing operator in the commercial door, dock, and access-control space, handling everything from single-door repairs to full commercial installations across Michigan. A Day in This Role You start the day reviewing a set of plans for an upcoming commercial installation, working through a material takeoff. Mid-morning, you're on a call with the sales rep to align on scope before a proposal goes out. After lunch, you finalize pricing on a bid due that afternoon, then review a site-visit report from a technician to refine an estimate on a more complex repair job. The Role Review blueprints, schematics, and site information to develop accurate project scopes. Prepare material takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial door, dock, and access-control projects. Collaborate with sales on proposal development and pricing strategy. Track bid outcomes and refine estimating accuracy over time. Coordinate with project management and field teams to ensure estimates translate into deliverable scopes. What You Bring - Must-Haves Prior estimating experience in construction, commercial doors, dock equipment, or a closely related trade. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately. Strong Excel skills and comfort with estimating or takeoff software. What You Bring - Nice-to-Haves Specific commercial door or dock equipment estimating experience. Familiarity with ERP/FSM systems (NetSuite, ServiceTitan, or similar).
