Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year, working on a contract basis in the vibrant Fairfield, CT area. You’ll provide specialized education services to students at either the middle or elementary school level, collaborating with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to foster student success. This full-time assignment will span the entire school year and require travel between school sites, with mileage compensated.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education (SPED) teaching certification
- Previous experience in special education environments at the elementary or middle school level preferred
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and documentation
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Passion for creating supportive, engaging, and adaptive learning experiences
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals and district curriculum
- Assess student strengths, needs, and progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Collaborate with faculty, families, and service providers to coordinate student care and instruction
- Create, monitor, and document behavioral and academic interventions
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain detailed records in line with compliance requirements
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom climate, encouraging growth for every learner
