Make a significant impact on students with special needs by bringing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to both middle and elementary school settings. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work with passionate colleagues over the entire 2026-2027 academic year, supporting students in a nurturing and educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Connecticut Special Education Teacher (SPED) credential is required
- Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students with diverse learning abilities in a classroom setting
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication skills for collaborative work with colleagues, families, and related service providers
- Adaptability and creativity in modifying instructional materials and strategies to meet individual student needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to students identified for special education in both middle and elementary school environments
- Develop, revise, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Maintain accurate records on student performance, attendance, progress, and behavioral data
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to promote inclusive practices and positive learning experiences
- Engage regularly with families and caregivers to communicate student progress and discuss strategies for continued growth
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and interdisciplinary teams to foster best practices in special education
