The stations produce and deliver compelling and unique local news, information and entertainment programming to viewers in the communities they serve, which include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Diego and Connecticut, with a goal of connecting to their audiences anytime and anywhere.Role SummaryThe Director of Human Resources is needed to provide strategic HR leadership for WVIT, the NBC station in the Connecticut market.Here you can:Lead and leverage HR processes and drive key HR initiatives across both television stations, including staffing, performance management, compensation planning, succession planning, training and development, rewards & recognition, organizational effectiveness and employee communicationCreate and execute a comprehensive employee relations strategyPartner and collaborate with various business leaders on growth strategies and cost challenges; provide HR guidance and input on decisions and execute in order to enable these strategiesWork with managers to build a career path for employees, identifying opportunities for training, new skill acquisition, and advancementWork closely with Labor Relations on collective bargaining issues, resolving grievances, and furthering NBCU's relationships with its unionsHelp to drive change within the organization, to include adoption of new technologies, workflows, staffing models, and organization structuresIdentify, select, develop and retain world-class talent and ensure a dynamic pipelineProvide executive coaching to department leaders, offering feedback and advice on employee and organizational issuesUncover, assess and propose opportunities for HR process improvementsProvide interpretation of HR policies, practices and procedures to employees and managersWork with leaders and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment, which encourages the full use of diverse talents and abilities; act as an employee advocate; help drive various corporate and division business initiativesQualificationsHere you'll need:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.7+ years of professional HR experienceDesired CharacteristicsMBA or master's degree preferred. HR certification desiredSolid interpersonal skills. Demonstrated facilitation and coaching skillsPrevious Employee Relations/Labor Relations experienceProven business acumen, facilitation, conflict resolution and communication skillsKnowledge and practical application of HR disciplines including employment and labor laws, employee relations, management & leadership development, performance management, organizational design and compensation philosophies and knowledge of OSHA and workplace safetyExceptional business partnership: able to establish credibility and rapport with operating leadersProject and process management skills, demonstrated track record of delivering resultsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong client-support orientation, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and with a wide range of clients, individually and in groupsExcellent employee-relations skill set; can earn trust and credibility with employees in assigned groupsOpen and easily approachablePrevious experience with a union-represented workforce is a plusProven influencer; demonstrated ability to coach and counsel both employees and managementBasic knowledge of Labor RelationsAbility to handle multiple priorities and lead changeTakes ownership; able to establish self as the 'go-to' HR resource for client organizationsPrior media/television industry experience preferredHybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the Hartford, CT office a minimum of four days per week.
