Scheduling Coordinator

Job Overview Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours. Responsible for the prompt, courteous, and accurate scheduling of patient appointments. Essential Job Functions Monitors fax work queue for incoming requests from non‑Sturdy providers and schedules examinations with provider’s office/patients. Works with imaging technologists to ensure appropriate scheduling of exams and procedures. Coordinates multiple exam requests to ensure examinations are performed in a timely fashion. Displays ability to multi‑task and follows up on work in progress. Responsible for general and secondary tasks as needed or assigned. Utilizes the EMR and works from a scheduling request pool to process requests and book patients for imaging or EEG studies. Notifies referring providers of any issues or questions that may arise during the booking process and works to resolve them. Confirms that appropriate insurance pre‑authorization has been obtained and documents detailed information. Contacts patients via telephone to inform them of scheduled appointment dates and times. Relays any appropriate exam requirements and/or preparations. Notifies referring provider’s office with patient appointment information from the scheduling pool. Answers incoming calls and assists patients and referring provider offices in booking examinations. Required Skills, Qualifications, Training and Experience Minimum of 2 years of medical experience, preferably in a hospital‑based imaging department. Excellent command of verbal and written English. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills when interacting with various members of the healthcare team and/or patients. Detail‑oriented with the ability to work independently and prioritize as needed. Ability to problem‑solve and address scheduling‑related issues. Proficient in technology, including computer, scanner, phone, fax, and copy machines. Preferred Skills, Qualifications, Training and Experience Familiarity with medical terminology, preferably imaging related. Familiarity with Meditech. Prior experience with Cerner is a plus. Educational Requirements High school diploma. No license or certification required. Age Specific Criteria Ability to effectively communicate with all age levels served within the scope of the position or assigned areas. Salary and Benefits Hourly salary range: $16.63–$24.99. Salary is determined after considering a candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. Benefits include healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
