Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) | Charlotte, North Carolina

A healthcare opportunity is available for an experienced RN with Med/Surgical and Telemetry nursing expertise in Charlotte, NC. This role is a contract assignment within a highly regarded Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital known for its Magnet designation and specialized centers including Chest Pain and Stroke. The position primarily supports Med/Tele nursing needs, often covering emergency department holds. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with diverse and complex conditions such as trauma (GSW, stabbing, MVA), stroke, heart failure, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, and critical care needs. Manage cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, fluid resuscitation, blood product administration, and critical medication drips. Perform advanced procedures including PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, NGT placement, tracheostomy care, Foley catheter management, and PCA pump operation. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists. Adapt to floating assignments throughout the healthcare region as needed, maintaining professional and flexible care delivery. Utilize EMR systems (EPIC) and clinical equipment such as Alaris IV pumps and Philips monitors effectively. Desired Qualifications Registered Nurse license in good standing. Minimum 2 years of experience in ED or Med/Tele nursing preferred. Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS and TNCC preferred for ED RNs. Strong trauma, stroke, and critical care nursing skills. Ability to work weekends every other week; holiday coverage approximately 75%.
