Director, Pharmacokinetics

Merck seeks a Director to lead the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics group in West Point, Pennsylvania. The role involves managing a team of scientists supporting drug discovery programs across multiple modalities, with emphasis on ADME characterization, PK/PD modeling, and talent development.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for DMPK group conducting mechanistic ADME studies
• Support discovery programs through in silico, in vitro, and in vivo study design and interpretation
• Foster career development and facilitate growth of team members
• Oversee scientific quality and timeliness of internal and external documents prepared by staff
• Implement new technologies and establish future strategy for the organization

Requirements

• PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, or related field with 8+ years pharma industry experience
• Extensive DMPK support in drug discovery including PK predictions and drug interaction assessment
• Proficiency in integrating preclinical ADME and PK data for translational modeling and simulation
• Knowledge of in silico approaches for metabolism characterization and exposure-response relationships
• Minimum 3 years experience managing or supervising scientific staff
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with ability to meet firm deadlines
• Expertise in modern instrumentation supporting DMPK workflows
