Collections Specialist

Job Description

Our nonprofit client is looking for a Collections Specialist for a contract to hire opportunity to complete the following:

OBJECTIVES: Reporting to the Manager, Finance -Billing, the Staff, Finance -Collections Specialist will support clients'financial sustainability by effectively managing accounts receivable and collections activities. This role upholds fiscal responsibility while maintaining a respectful, service-oriented approach. The Collections Specialist will work collaboratively to ensure timely revenue recovery while preserving positives relationships with clients, partners, and payers.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct outreach to customers via phone, email, or written correspondence regarding outstanding balances with professionalism and empathy.
2. Support the collection of past-due accounts in a manner consistent with the organization's mission and values.
3. Accurately document collection efforts, payment plans, and account updates to support transparency and reporting.
4. Process payments and maintain accurate customer records in billing and accounting systems.
5. Review account histories to identify discrepancies, trends, or billing concerns.
6. Partner with internal teams to resolve billing questions and support fair, timely account resolution.
7. Assist with accounts receivable processes and reporting to support organizational goals and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Associate degree, preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience or familiarity with billing or ERP systems a plus
