Position Title: Administrator, Business Taxes Administrator II (BTA II) Department: California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) Job Code: JC-523719 Position #: 291-471-4331-001 Classification: BUSINESS TAXES ADMINISTRATOR II, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION Salary: $8,506.00 - $11,114.00 (minimum salary of the classification) Number of Positions: Multiple Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Position Summary The Business Taxes Administrator II (BTA II) reports to the Supervising Tax Auditor I and oversees the day‑to‑day operational functions of Data and Analysis Services. The BTA II manages a team of Business Taxes Specialists and advises senior management on complex CDTFA policies, prepares and reviews reports, graphs, and memorandums, and identifies potential problems and solutions using data analysis. The role includes motivating, training, and developing staff and monitoring performance. Responsibilities Key responsibilities include: Directing and supervising Business Taxes Specialists I and II in compliance, audit, and administrative functions. Assisting and advising senior staff on sensitive and complex policy and procedural issues. Preparing and reviewing reports, graphs, and memorandums for senior management. Identifying potential problems and proposing data‑driven solutions. Motivating, training, and developing team members while monitoring performance. Qualifications Minimum of a California Department of Tax and Fee Administration experience or a related field with demonstrated compliance and audit skills. Strong analytical and data‑analysis skills with the ability to prepare and interpret complex reports. Effective communication and leadership abilities, including the ability to collaborate with diverse teams. Ability to independently advise senior staff on complex policy issues. Special Requirements Participation in E‑Verify and completion of Form I‑9 as required. Position requires fingerprinting and successful completion of a background investigation. Travel may be required up to five percent (5%) of the time. Eligible for promotional examinations must meet at least one of the following criteria: permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA; current or former legislature employee for 2+ years; current or former executive branch exempt employee for 2+ consecutive years; or retired United States military with honorable discharge and service disability or service‑related discharge.
