Administration Clerk

Under the supervision of the Supervisor I and Supervisor II, the Seasonal Clerk is responsible for providing general office duties in support of the Board's Administration and Licensing Units. The seasonal clerk may utilize the Consumer Affairs System (CAS), the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and Microsoft Office. The position may require the use of various office machines and software programs.

Working Conditions


Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, they must reside in the State of California once they are hired and start working.


Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual. Special Requirements Criminal Offender Record Information : Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program materials at all times.

This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. Individuals who are, or have been a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
The incumbent works 20-32 hours per week in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. The ability to use a personal computer is essential. The position requires bending, grasping, pulling, reaching, and stooping to retrieve, shift and pull files; walking and lifting, up to 15-45 pounds. This position requires the incumbent maintain consistent and regular attendance; communicate effectively (orally and in writing if both appropriate) in dealing with the public and/or other employees; complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner; work cooperatively with others as a member of a team, and be responsive to management needs; and, adherence to the board Workplace Guidelines as well as departmental policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct. The position will require use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. The incumbent is required to frequently ascend and descend a ladder when accessing files in the file cabinet.
