Details -bed unit within a 241-licensed-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-exempt hospital 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 24 Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and other diagnoses RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8 CNA to patient ratio of 1:12 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week Every-other-weekend rotation required Schedule cycle rotates every 6 weeks Possible low-census call, with call-back required up to 3a for nights and 3p for days Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience required Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) required General med/surg skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes required Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced med/surg telemetry unit supported by a charge nurse, CNAs, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Telemetry monitoring is supported remotely by a dedicated tele tech team Hospitalist coverage is onsite during day shift and virtual during evenings/overnight; intensivist coverage is available 24/7 Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall in contracted hours added to the end of the assignment Navy scrub color required Free parking is available onsite Unit culture is described as positive and supportive First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted Previous employees who worked a permanent position within the health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment American Traveler Job ID P-722454.
