Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems / Owner’s Representative Consulting Are you an experienced MEP Engineer looking to transition away from traditional consulting design and into a more advisory, client‑facing role? A nationally recognized architecture, engineering, and building consulting firm is seeking a Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer to join its growing team in Dallas. This is a hybrid position with a mix of office, site, and remote work. The firm partners with real estate owners, investors, developers, and lenders to evaluate buildings, solve technical challenges, and deliver strategic consulting solutions across the full property lifecycle. Projects span a diverse portfolio including commercial office, multifamily, industrial, hospitality, retail, municipal, and institutional facilities. This opportunity is ideal for a senior‑level engineer with strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience across building systems evaluations, sustainability initiatives, and project management. Key Responsibilities Conduct property condition assessments (PCAs) and building systems evaluations. Prepare probable cost estimates and technical reports. Perform peer reviews of engineering and building system designs. Lead evaluations of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems. Support energy audits, commissioning, forensic investigations, sustainability consulting, and construction management activities. Coordinate directly with clients, property stakeholders, contractors, and field personnel. Manage and mentor project teams while overseeing technical project execution. Participate in a wide variety of projects across multiple building sectors and geographic regions. Travel to project sites locally and regionally as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required. 10+ years of experience in the design, evaluation, or assessment of building MEP systems. Strong HVAC and plumbing expertise with working knowledge of electrical and fire protection systems. Experience with facilities engineering, commissioning, energy audits, and sustainability consulting preferred. Familiarity with national and state building codes. Proven project management and leadership experience. Proficiency with industry software including AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and construction/document management platforms. LEED, CEM, or other sustainability-related credentials are a plus. Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills required.
