Work Environment

This position is located onsite at our advanced outpatient clinic within the hospital. The outpatient setting allows for a diverse patient population, ranging from those recovering from surgeries to individuals managing chronic pain. You will work alongside a vibrant team of rehabilitation specialists, gaining exposure to various therapeutic modalities and state-of-the-art equipment including hydrotherapy tanks and ultrasound machines. Our physical therapy department is designed to facilitate collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of individualized treatment plans by providing direct patient care, which may include administering manual exercises and helping patients perform therapeutic activities to enhance mobility.
• Educate patients on the use of assistive devices, such as crutches and canes, while offering encouragement and support during physical activities.
• Apply physical therapy treatment modalities, including massages, traction, and therapeutic heat/cold agents, while maintaining safety and efficacy in all procedures.
• Record patient progress meticulously and communicate with supervising physical therapists to evaluate treatment effectiveness and recommend necessary adjustments.
• Design and instruct patients on home exercise programs to ensure ongoing rehabilitation after discharge, while also educating families and caregivers on supporting patient recovery.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in compliance with legal and regulatory standards to contribute to comprehensive patient care records.
• Participate in departmental meetings and continue professional development through workshops and networking opportunities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve a diverse array of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, neurological conditions, and chronic pain syndromes. Your personalized approach will be vital in fostering both physical and emotional recovery, ensuring each patient feels supported and motivated throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field is mandatory.
• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required, with current certification to practice in the State of Florida.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a physical therapy setting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of physical therapy principles, treatment modalities, and patient care considerations.

Preferred Experience

Experience within an outpatient clinic specializing in physical rehabilitation is valued, along with familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for patient documentation and treatment tracking. Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques will enhance your candidacy.

Compensation and Benefits
