Database Administrator Senior

Database Architect / Database Administrator / Data Engineer Contract | Hybrid Must be available to do an onsite interview in NYC- and must be local! Our client is seeking a senior Database Architect / Database Administrator / Data Engineer to support the design, administration, optimization, integration, and governance of enterprise data. This hybrid role combines database architecture, DBA, and data engineering responsibilities supporting critical business applications, analytics, reporting, and digital transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities Design and maintain scalable enterprise database architectures and data models. Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and other enterprise database platforms. Perform performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, monitoring, backup/recovery, replication, and troubleshooting. Design and maintain ETL processes, data pipelines, integrations, and data transformation workflows. Support data warehouses, data lakes/lakehouses, analytics, BI, and reporting initiatives. Ensure data quality, integrity, security, governance, lineage, and appropriate access controls. Support disaster recovery, high availability, capacity planning, and data resiliency. Partner with application development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, business teams, and contractors. Lead technical design reviews and maintain architecture, database, and operational documentation. Participate in planned maintenance and occasional after-hours/on-call production support. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in database administration, database architecture, or database design. 5+ years supporting enterprise or large-scale organizations. Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server . Demonstrated experience with enterprise data integration and analytics. Strong database architecture, data modeling, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills. Preferred Technical Skills SQL / T-SQL Python PowerShell / Shell Scripting VBA SSIS ETL development Data Warehousing / Data Lakes / Lakehouses Power BI Disaster Recovery and Backup/Recovery Database Security Capacity Planning Automation and Monitoring Additional Requirements Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to lead technical initiatives and manage multiple priorities. Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders. High school diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
