Overview In this RN Behavioral Health Charge Nurse role at Northwest Hospital, you’ll step into a day‑shift leadership position that offers: Leadership without leaving the bedside – charge responsibilities paired with direct patient care Smaller inpatient units – manageable census and strong peer support Clinical variety – cross‑training across inpatient and emergency psychiatric settings Competitive pay + sign‑on bonus – up to $10k sign‑on bonus Purpose‑driven work – care for patients during critical moments of mental health crisis Department and Units Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) – 23‑bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit 4A Unit – 12‑bed adult behavioral health unit Emergency Department Psychiatric Pods (North Pod and West Pod) Two 6‑bed units serving adults, adolescents, and children in acute psychiatric crisis Nursing staff are cross‑trained across all areas Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as Charge Nurse RN during assigned night shifts Coordinate staffing, patient flow, and unit operations Perform comprehensive psychiatric nursing assessments Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition changes Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and structured care environment Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health providers, and care teams Required Qualifications Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) License Associate’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent formal education

1. 3 years of RN experience (behavioral health or inpatient experience preferred)
2. years of experience in a clinical specialty
