Exciting Opportunity for Medical Lab Scientist in Taylorsville Job Description:
- Position: Medical Lab Scientist
- Location: Taylorsville FSED
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (with options for extension to 26 weeks)
- Shift: 7 on/7 off nights, 9:00 PM - 7:30 AM Responsibilities:
- Conduct Point of Care Testing
- Perform clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and Lab Director to support FSED operations
- Daily maintenance, quality control, and calibrations on analyzers
- Perform waived and non-waived patient testing
- Process specimens: ordering tests, centrifuging samples, preparing send-outs for transport
- Stock lab supplies and routine cleaning of lab surfaces Unit Overview:
- Number of Treatment Rooms: 10
- Number of Staff: 8 Lab Technologists
- Shift Staff:
- Day Shift: 1 MLS/MLT
- Night Shift: 1 MLS/MLT
- On Call Requirements: No on-call, opportunities for extra hours on off week
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Equipment:
- Siemens Dimension EXL
- Sysmex 1000
- Roche Clineteck
- Werfen Top 300
- Quidel Triage
- Siemens ePOC
- Abbott iSTAT
- Veritor FLU
- Quidel SOFIA COVID-19
- Aerospray stainer Qualifications:
- Must Have:
- MLS or MLT certification through ASCP or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Hospital Laboratory environment
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with EPIC
- Familiarity with the analyzers listed above Best Fit Personality:
- Professional communicator
- Ability to work independently while interfacing with clinical staff in the ED Dress Code:
- Scrubs: Pewter in color (lab coat provided) Unit Guidelines/Policies:
- Adhere to standard lab safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
