Security Engineer II, AWS Vulnerability Managment

As a Security Engineer on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Vulnerability Management team you will help define how we assess triage and remediate security risks across AWS. You will partner with engineers and service teams to identify root causes drive scalable fixes and accelerate our response times so that high-risk issues are resolved before adversaries can take advantage of them.

Key job responsibilities
- Assess and triage vulnerability disclosures and threat intelligence authoring clear risk statements and remediation guidance that inform decision-making across AWS service teams.
- Own and coordinate large-scale remediation campaigns tracking progress and reporting outcomes to security leadership while driving root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with builder teams across AWS to design pragmatic maintainable security controls that reduce risk at scale without slowing innovation.
- Apply AI and automation to accelerate vulnerability assessment remediation and mitigation workflows continuously improving the teams speed and consistency.
- Mentor fellow security engineers through peer reviews and knowledge sharing raising the quality bar for the teams processes and deliverables.

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing newly disclosed vulnerabilities assessing their severity and determining which AWS services are affected. From there you could shift into a working session with a service team to design a remediation path then spend time building or tuning automation that helps the broader team close similar findings faster. You will balance focused independent analysis with collaborative discussions syncing with software developers technical program managers and security peers to keep remediation campaigns on track and share what you have learned.

The AWS Vulnerability Management team sits within Amazon Security and is responsible for identifying assessing and driving the resolution of security vulnerabilities across AWS. Our mission is to keep customers protected by closing high-risk findings quickly and eliminating the root causes that allow them to occur. We work closely with service teams and security partners across the organization giving you broad visibility into how cloud security operates at scale.

- CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CFR (CyberSec First Responder) or Cloud or CySA (CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst) or GCED (GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender) or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or PenTest
- 4 years of programming in Python Ruby Go Swift C or similar object oriented language experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3 years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience secure coding identity management and authentication software development cryptography system administration and network security experience

- Experience with any combination of the following: threat modeling secure coding identity management and authentication software development cryptography system administration and network security
- Masters degree with a specialization in information security
- 3 years in Vulnerability Management
- Knowledge of current security threats trends and mitigations
- Experience in a lead role including guiding and mentoring other developers
- Hands-on experience with satellite communications and management software
- Experience with low-level programming and embedded systems

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
