Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care to patients in antepartum, labor, high-risk pregnancy, triage, and postpartum settings. This role includes fetal heart monitoring, assisting with C-sections and vaginal deliveries, and providing newborn care during delivery. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality maternal and neonatal care, with flexibility to float to postpartum as needed. A minimum of 2 years of experience and required certifications are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care in 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor/high-risk rooms, and 3 triage rooms.
• Perform fetal heart monitoring and high-risk pregnancy monitoring.
• Assist with C-sections and vaginal deliveries.
• Provide postpartum care and newborn care during delivery, including couplet care when applicable.
• Float to postpartum unit as needed to support staffing.
• Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic electronic medical records.
• Adhere to hospital policies and protocols related to maternal and neonatal care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery or high-risk obstetrics.
• Certifications: AWHONN Advanced or NCC, Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM).
• Strong clinical skills in fetal monitoring, labor support, and newborn care.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work within a 50-mile radius of the facility.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with postpartum couplet care (maternal and newborn care combined).
• Additional neonatal care skills beyond newborn role in delivery.
• Prior experience in high-risk pregnancy and acute care settings.

Special Considerations:

• No on-call requirements.
• Floating to postpartum unit as needed.
• Facility uses Epic for charting.
• Scrub color for RNs: Navy Blue; L&D/OR/Cath Lab scrubs provided.
• Parking options available with associated fees.
• Guaranteed hours with facility allowed to call off once per two-week pay period.
• RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included at time of submission.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule includes every other weekend requirement.
• Block scheduling accommodations available at manager's discretion.
• Shifts assigned based on unit needs; floating between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units expected.
