Mobile Diesel Technician II – Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment, including those listed above. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation. Identify problems, assess the accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment in the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work‑related activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards, upload pictures and parts used in Repair Orders using the iOS TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner. Work independently and manage personal daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to Standard Repair Times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain company‑issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily inspections. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and at least three (3) years of experience in a related field (alternative: a higher degree or five (5) years of experience is acceptable). At least three (3) years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties. OEM training and certifications are preferred. Participate in and complete all company‑required training. Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or provide a current DOT medical card with at least four (4) months remaining). Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Required Certifications (within 18 months)
