Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level I Trauma experience and independence with trauma, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular cases.

Job Details

• Operating Room unit within a Short Term Acute Care Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center,
• 3x12-hour shifts rotating between days, evenings, and nights based on unit needs,
• Schedules are made in 6-week blocks and released 2 weeks prior to the start of each block,
• Travelers are typically placed on night shift for one week within a four-week schedule block,
• On-call required, scheduled up to 2 times per week, generally paired with an already scheduled shift,
• Weekend work required,
• Uses Epic for charting,
• General OR and Hybrid OR settings, including trauma cases such as gunshot and stab wounds,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required,
• BLS certification required; ACLS also required per unit,
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required,
• Travel experience required,
• Teaching hospital experience required,
• Trauma Level I experience required at a large facility,
• Must be independent with trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular procedures,
• Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred,
• Experience with robotics and orthopedic cases strongly preferred,
• Neurology and craniotomy skills required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• 1 professional reference required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center OR environment,
• Scrub color required is royal blue,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption,
• No holiday RTO approvals permitted for this unit,
• RTO requests beyond 7 days require additional approval,
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role,
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital,
• Previously employed staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler,
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
