Step into a day in the Tool Room

Select from evening or overnight schedules and keep production tools at peak performance:

• 2nd Shift: 3 pm – 11 pm
• 3rd Shift: 11 pm – 7 am

You arrive on time—because reliable onsite attendance is essential—and start by reviewing the daily preparation schedule and assigned work orders. Safety comes first as you follow company programs and procedures. With your area organized and clean, you inspect and protect tooling and components before getting to work.

• Tackle end-to-end tooling repairs with minimal supervision, verifying every detail against part prints and specifications.
• Troubleshoot common tooling issues quickly and accurately to keep operations moving.
• Assemble and disassemble tooling efficiently; polish molds to meet production and quality standards.
• Locate, retrieve, and prepare tooling scheduled for maintenance, repair, or upcoming production runs.
• Replace cavity components while maintaining precise fit and alignment; prepare tooling and related components for production setup.
• Maintain/replace water and oil lines; inspect, maintain, and repair water hoses and connections.
• Service and repair components such as slides, ejector pins, die cutters, and hydraulic cylinders.
• Fabricate Julian Date Screws and Annual Date Wheels as needed.
• Rework cores and cavities through welding, machining, and polishing; perform welding to repair, modify, and restore tooling.
• Set up and run basic operations on surface grinders, press-out presses, band saws, lathes, and mills.
• Fabricate/install standard cores and punches to specification; build fixtures for machining, inspection, assembly, and other tooling uses.
• Apply trigonometry and GD&T principles throughout tool-making tasks.
• Program and operate 2-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Suggest and implement tooling improvements that cut scrap, defects, and rework while boosting efficiency.
• Complete, organize, and file maintenance/repair documentation promptly.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years in a Tool Room, ideally in die casting or similar manufacturing.
• Comfort with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
• Current certifications: Forklift, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hoist, and crane.
• Strong math skills relevant to machining and tool-making.
• Fluency in reading part prints, tooling drawings, and dimensional specifications.
