We're seeking an entrepreneurial engineer who has experience building data-driven products at early-stage (pre-Series A) startups.
The opportunity: Shape the data strategy for Liftoff: what kinds of data can we collect on people's forward-looking interests and capabilities, and how we can use it to power superior matchmaking of opportunities and people. Build and iterate at multiple levels of the tech stack – data infrastructure, algorithms, and how they power fun and useful user-facing product experiences. Utilize the latest generative AI tools to quickly prototype and test out new ideas. Refine and redefine our approach and code as we scale from thousands to millions of data points and beyond. Help establish our engineering brand and culture as the third full-time engineer at Liftoff.
The ideal person: A full-stack engineer who enjoys digging deep into datasets, finding interesting trends and correlations, and leveraging data toward personalized, novel 0→1 product features. Prototyping orientation - likes to build/prototype quickly, while having an eye toward long-term technical strategy, quality, and performance. Experience with social apps, trust-based marketplace platforms (e.g. Airbnb, Lyft, Uber) or hybrid consumer <> enterprise tools are a plus. Passion for people or team-building is a plus. Located in New York City and interested in working a hybrid or fully in-person schedule.
