Job Details:

• Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (APRN)
• Join the busy and growing Department of Cardiac Surgery within the Heart & Vascular Institute
• Perform first assist duties in cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Conduct endoscopic vessel harvesting procedures
• Perform preoperative history and physical examinations
• Provide postoperative care including ICU and step-down unit management
• Handle inpatient consultations and support patient care from admission through discharge
• Manage multiple patients with varied critical illness and perform comprehensive physical assessments
• Interpret diagnostic results and provide hemodynamic and ventilator management
• Perform invasive procedures; experience with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and feeding tubes preferred but not required
• Work in an inpatient cardiac surgical services setting
• Schedule consists of 13-hour shifts, 3 days per week, with rotating day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage
• Permanent night shift option available if desired
• 1+ years of experience in cardiovascular surgery preferred and/or 2+ years of experience as a PA/APRN in a critical care setting
• Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner APRN in the state of Connecticut
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner APRN Master's program required
