Scientist, Oncology Research

Gilead Sciences seeks a Scientist for the Tumor Intrinsic Biology group to conduct early-stage oncology research focused on understanding molecular mechanisms driving cancer cell identity and therapeutic response. The role involves designing experiments with protein and nucleic acid biochemistry approaches and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret experiments investigating protein and nucleic acid complexes in transcriptional regulation and cancer biology
• Develop and apply biochemical approaches to characterize protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions from macromolecular complexes
• Generate mechanistic insights into transcriptional programs and contribute to target identification and validation in discovery programs
• Collaborate with oncology biology, chemistry, structural biology, and computational science teams
• Communicate scientific findings through presentations and reports while tracking advances in cancer and RNA biology

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant experience, or Master's with 3+ years, or Ph.D.
• Strong background in protein-nucleic acid biochemistry, biophysics, or molecular biology
• Experience reconstituting and characterizing multi-subunit protein or ribonucleoprotein complexes
• Proficiency with biochemical and biophysical methods such as SPR, BLI, fluorescence polarization, or EMSA
• Knowledge of transcriptional regulation, lineage factors, RNA biology, or cancer signaling pathways
• Demonstrated ability to drive independent research while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams

Compensation: $146,540–$189,640 base
