About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Rotating Shifts (Day and Night) Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:30; 07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care settings, with teaching hospital experience for first-time travelers License: Current RN license (CO or Compact) Certifications: AHA BLS Must-Have: Teaching hospital experience required Description: This position involves providing nursing care to patients recovering from surgical interventions related to cancer diagnoses. The majority of patients will have conditions related to the abdomen or pelvic area. The nursing staff will help patients achieve specific post-operative milestones for discharge. Chemotherapy or biotherapy is not administered on this unit, so certification in these areas is not required. Nurses may need to float within the scope of their practice to meet facility needs and may float to similar units as necessary. Standard medical equipment is utilized on this unit, but nursing staff may encounter new and innovative technology during their assignment. The patient-to-nurse ratio may flex based on staffing and unit needs, and candidates should be comfortable in environments with flexible staffing ratios. Weekend shifts will be required according to unit needs. Nurses should be familiar with a variety of oncology-related skills and procedures. All candidates must complete modules and orientation within the first week of their assignment.
