Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Surgery – Esophageal and Foregut Surgery (Excludes Bariatric Surgery) Job ID: 52400 Location: Chicago, Illinois Overview The Division of GI Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non‑tenure track faculty member at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Professor. The position is for an established surgeon with recognized expertise in esophageal and foregut surgery, focused exclusively on esophageal and foregut disease and not including bariatric surgery. Responsibilities Lead a robust clinical practice focused on complex foregut and esophageal disorders, providing comprehensive pre‑operative and post‑operative care. Perform advanced surgical and endoscopic procedures, including peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), advanced surgical endoscopy, and minimally invasive techniques for esophageal and upper gastrointestinal disease. Participate in daily consultations, manage referral‑based care, share call coverage, and actively engage in inpatient rounding and perioperative care. Contribute to the educational mission by teaching, training, and mentoring General Surgery residents in clinical and educational settings. Play a leadership role in the growth, innovation, and strategic development of the foregut and esophageal surgery program. Compensation & Benefits Base pay range: $365,000 – $410,000. Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and market factors.
