About This Role

The Lead Teacher plays a pivotal role in implementing our preschool's activities and services, shaping the educational experience of our children. They lead, coach, and mentor Assistant Teachers and less experienced staff members, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning. Our expectation is that our Lead Teachers model outstanding behavior, provide constructive feedback, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

What You'll Do

• Instruct children with passion and dedication, aligning with our preschool's philosophy and goals, which focus on emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.
• Design engaging activities that foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and respect for oneself and others.
• Adapt to the unique needs of each child, considering their cultural background, socio-economic status, abilities, talents, interests, learning style, and pace.
• Create a stimulating learning environment that balances work and play, with an emphasis on child-created projects.
• Collaborate with the Preschool Director and Assistant Director to lead teaching staff, support families, and achieve enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives.
• Organize classroom events, including field trips, and participate as needed.
• Report maintenance needs, equipment repairs, and supply replenishments to the Assistant Director.
• Ensure the efficient operation of the preschool, serving as a welcoming presence for children and families.
• Plan and conduct parent-teacher conferences, documenting child progress.
• Promote a positive team dynamic among staff members.
• Protect preschool confidentiality and collaborate with leadership on security measures.
• Nurture relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.
• Stay up-to-date on CPR and First Aid procedures.
• Serve as a role model for professional conduct, adhering to confidentiality, best practices, and quality service standards.
• Participate in professional development to stay current on best practices and industry developments.
• Share knowledge and skills with colleagues through workshops, newsletters, and staff meetings.
• Complete additional duties assigned by the Assistant Director, aligning with the job description.

Requirements

• To be at least 21 years of age
• At least two years of experience working in a professional preschool setting, specifically with 2-year-old development
• Willingness to undergo professional development training in education and child development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A self-starter with the ability to follow through on tasks
• General technology and computer equipment proficiency
• A genuine passion for children and a strong desire to make a positive impact daily
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
• Compliance with state-specific guidelines for the role
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and work in various environments, including indoors and outdoors
• Physical and visual ability to maintain child safety and engage in physical activities
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
