Clinical Nurse (RN) - Lane Pre/Post Care (0.9 FTE, 12-Hour Rotating Shifts, On-Call Required)

Job Summary Your role as a Clinical Nurse (CN) involves providing hands‑on, evidence‑based care within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act, meeting regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. The CN performs all steps of the nursing process, including assessment, interpretation of data, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, coordination with other providers, and family education to manage care and prevent complications. Responsibilities Establish a therapeutic relationship, create a healing climate, manage patient discomfort, provide emotional support, and guide patients and families through illness recovery or end‑of‑life care. Obtain accurate assessment data, interpret normal vs abnormal findings, determine nursing diagnoses, and monitor data adaptively. Collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, ensuring safe delivery of nursing and medical interventions. Teach patients, families, and staff appropriate self‑care, illness prevention, and clinical skills. Adjust educational content based on learning readiness. Respond rapidly to changing conditions, activate emergency protocols, and monitor for adverse responses. Maintain quality healthcare practices, monitor own practice, assist others, pursue continual improvement opportunities. Integrate multiple requests by setting priorities, delegating tasks, and seeking assistance. Support team building, contribute to morale, and employ conflict resolution skills. Use technology for communication, documentation, and information retrieval. Promote professional development through teaching, governance participation, and scholarly activities. Commit to lifelong learning and professional practice standards, evaluating own practice relative to statutes and regulations. Communicate effectively across formats and settings, demonstrating leadership in the professional practice context and the broader nursing profession. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university is preferred. Licensing and Certifications Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification California Registered Nurse (CA‑RN) license Strong communication skills in English Physical Demands The role requires frequent lifting of patients and equipment, bending, stooping, and walking. The work environment poses moderate risks of exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, and emotionally disturbed patients. Protective clothing or gear may be used.
