Our Local & Services Advertising business serves the multi-billion dollar US local advertising market segment. We are building a portfolio of AI-powered ad experiences across Amazon owned & operated properties that will connect customers with the best local and services businesses in ways that feel natural, helpful, and seamless. This role will own the end-to-end product vision and execution for this business.

As Sr. Principal, Product Manager - Technical for Local & Services Advertising, you will define the multi-year strategy and drive execution for one of the most ambitious new advertising categories at Amazon. You will own the product lifecycle across multiple ad formats, multiple surfaces, and multiple demand channels. You will partner with engineering, science, and design teams building agentic AI systems that understand full conversation context, dynamically render locally-aware creatives, and drive seamless task completion for customers. You will build consensus across organizational boundaries to deliver a coherent advertiser and customer experience.

This is a high-autonomy, high-ambiguity role requiring collaboration across sales and product marketing to define and scale go-to-market. The leader should thrive on building zero-to-one, bring deep advertising technology expertise, and possess the technical judgment to make the right architecture and product decisions across AI/ML systems, ad serving infrastructure, and cross-surface experiences. You will influence VP and SVP-level strategy, and be accountable for business outcomes measured in billions of dollars.

Key job responsibilities

Product Vision & Strategy

Own and articulate the 3-5 year product vision for Local & Services Advertising, defining how we drive adoption and business growth through differentiated AI-powered experiences

Define the strategy for the new ad product across all Amazon surfaces, including the expansion roadmap across verticals, geographies, and demand sources

Own the P/L and revenue trajectory, making investment decisions that maximize long-term customer and business value

Cross-Surface Product Architecture

Define the product architecture that enables local and services ads to work coherently across Amazon's diverse publishers (e.g., Alexa, Fire TV, Stores etc.)

Own the integration strategy between Services/Local Ads, Conversational Ads, and display/video ad formats to deliver a unified full-funnel experience for local advertisers

Design the agentic task completion experience that enables customers to discover, evaluate, and transact with local service providers

Technical Leadership

Partner with engineering and science teams to define the AI/ML systems powering local ad relevance, including LLM-based contextual targeting, location-aware dynamic creative optimization, and real-time intent signals

Evaluate technical tradeoffs across ad serving infrastructure, privacy-safe agentic AI layers, and cross-surface orchestration systems

Drive architecture decisions for demand ingestion across multiple buying interfaces (Amazon Ads Console, ADSP, API) and demand sources

Ensure solutions scale to serve millions of local advertisers across multiple verticals while maintaining sub-second latency and high relevance

Demand Diversification & Partnerships

Define the demand diversification strategy across distinct buyer personas

Own the product requirements that enable frictionless onboarding for partners, while building toward self-service tools for millions of SMBs

Work with Sales leadership to define the go-to-market strategy that bootstraps demand at scale

Cross-Organizational Alignment

Build consensus and influence roadmaps across APM (supply and CX), SPB (demand and ad serving), Alexa+ (conversational AI), Publisher Partners (e.g., Fire TV), and Sales & Product Marketing (demand generation)

Drive strategic communications including decision narratives, investment proposals, annual planning narratives, and SVP-level business reviews

Act as the single-threaded owner accountable for end-to-end outcomes across organizational boundaries

Innovation & Thought Leadership

Identify and pursue breakthrough opportunities that leverage Amazon's unique value proposition

Define how generative AI and agentic systems fundamentally change local advertising from static impressions to intelligent, conversation-driven task completion

Establish best practices and mechanisms that scale the Local & Services Advertising business and develop the next generation of product leaders

About the team
We sit at the intersection of Amazon Ads, Alexa+, and Amazon's first-party publisher network. Our mission is to unlock the massive local and services advertising opportunity by building AI-native advertising products that are genuinely useful to customers and transformatively effective for advertisers. We are a cross-functional team spanning product, engineering, science, and design, building products that touch hundreds of millions of customers across every Amazon surface. We are in the early stages of a business that will generate billions in revenue, and we are looking for a technical product leader who can see around corners, make bold bets, and deliver results at scale.

Amazon Ads is building a new category of advertising that connects hundreds of millions of customers with local and services businesses at the exact moment of intent, powered by Alexa+ agentic AI. We are creating an advertising experience unlike anything that exists today: one where a customer watching a game on Fire TV can order from their favorite local restaurant through a simple voice command, where a shopper purchasing a kitchen faucet discovers a trusted plumber two miles away and books an appointment without leaving Amazon, and where a traveler asking Alexa about weekend plans completes a hotel reservation through natural conversation. This is the future of local advertising, and we are building it.

Basic Qualifications

• 12+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
• Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)
• Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams
• Experience facilitating discussions with senior leadership regarding technical / architectural trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation
• Experience in B2B, digital advertising, and ad-tech products/services
• Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building high-velocity ad products
• Experience with and deep understanding of advertising technologies (i.e., ad server, DSP)
• Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU or other AI acceleration hardware
• Experience managing technical products or online services
• 13+ years of building profitable partner ecosystems experience
• Advanced technical degree, or Master's degree
• Experience engaging and influencing C-level executives, both business and technical

USA, WA, SEATTLE - 215,900.00 - 292,100.00 USD annually

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
