Sr Principal Software Engineer VPC

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• 12+ years of experience in systems engineering, networking, or distributed systems
• Practical background delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational reliability
• Expert proficiency in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, C/C++, or Rust
• Proven ability to influence across functions and teams while delivering value at scale
• Hands-on experience with software-defined networking technologies such as OVN, OVS, or similar
• Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and load balancing
• Experience with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability
• Ability to apply technical expertise and new approaches to solve complex problems across multiple disciplines
• Extensive cloud-native experience
• Degree or equivalent expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• Preferred: experience with DPU/SmartNIC technologies such as NVIDIA BlueField, AMD Pensando, or Intel IPU
• Preferred: knowledge of eBPF, XDP, DPDK, or other high-performance networking frameworks
• Preferred: experience with CNI implementations such as Cilium, Calico, or Flannel, and Kubernetes networking
• Preferred: understanding of BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN, or other advanced routing protocols

• Advise on and lead the strategy and evolution of multiple products, applications, and technologies across our portfolio
• Design and architect core elements of JPMC-VPC, including the control plane, distribution plane, data plane, software gateways, load balancers, and IPAM systems
• Create original code solutions and drive new production capabilities across teams and functions
• Write production-ready code in Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++ for networking infrastructure
• Translate complex technical issues, trends, and approaches for leadership to support informed technology decisions
• Collaborate with vendor partners such as Red Hat and NVIDIA on roadmap planning and integration
• Represent us in open-source communities and industry forums
• Drive the adoption and implementation of technical methods aligned with modern product development practices
• Build durable, reusable software frameworks used across teams and functions
• Influence business, product, and technology stakeholders while managing senior relationships
