Shift ManagerThe Shift Manager's primary function is to assist the store management team in the overall operation and performance of the store, which includes sales, merchandising, animal care, cleaning, and adherence to all company guidelines and procedures to ensure efficient daily operations. In this position, you will be required to support the Store Manager in communicating, and being able to articulate our vision, values, and priorities to the team. The position will also drive the achievement of daily sales goals and complete tasks as the manager on duty in the absence of Store and Assistant Manager. This position requires you to follow and enforce all company policies and procedures communicated by the Sunrise Store Support Office.Sales LeadershipPrioritize, assign, and delegate daily goals, tasks, and assignments to associate team and ensure proper completion when manager on duty.Monitor teams on the expected customer service and selling models, communicates with Store Manager / Assistant Manager on observations.Celebrating and recognizing the team's efforts and accomplishments.Maintain a high level of professionalism and positive attitude in the workplace, including conducting oneself appropriately when communicating verbally, in writing, or by email.Customer ExcellencePartner with the Store Manager to plan and execute community events and develop mutually beneficial business relationships with various rescue agencies.Lead and demonstrate engagement. Be a role model demonstrating excellent customer service, brand, and loyalty awareness.Protect employees and customers by maintaining a safe and clean store environment. Required to maintain cleanliness and well-being of all livestock including animal care and feeding. Accountable for the protection of all company assets both tangible and intangible.Operations and Team BuildingSupports, understand and accountable for maintaining store and brand standards, operational excellence and meeting all safety requirements.Communicate relevant store communications and distribute information to store employees accordingly, and ensure any required actions are completed in a timely manner.Support inventory management - Place orders within budget and drive sales.Support in maintaining the fish system, including inventory, ordering, and adhering to budgets.Partners with the Store Manager to ensure physical inventories are accurate, counts are taken, and shrink goals are met.Accountable for communicating concerns with gaps in performance to Store Manager or Assistant Store manager so this can be addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.Support the execution of new hire training checklists, all training plans, and merchandising guidelines.Support the execution of community events and partnering with various rescue agencies.Complete tasks and other duties as assigned by store management.Business InsightUnderstands the business. Needs to be able to react to business needs.Experience, Education, CertificationsMinimum 1 years in a retail management roleEnjoy working with and around animals.College degree, an assetJob RequirementAbility to work a flexible work schedule which includes morning, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.Valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle preferred.Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Effort of position:Several duties require physical exertion and dexterity. Heavy lifting up to 55lbs required several times throughout a shift.Most of the time is spent on the selling floor, standing, or moving around. Active listening required when communicating / speaking with customers and employees.Works in a relatively temperature-stable environment.May occasionally need to work alone.Accidental injuries from pets are possible.
