Senior Legal Analyst (Paralegal)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Legal Analyst (Paralegal) to join a dynamic legal team supporting critical public and water‑industry work. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned paralegal or legal professional who enjoys complex work, values public service, and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment. What You’ll Do Conduct legal research and draft, analyze, and manage a wide range of legal documents using your experience with legal research tools and public records processes. Plan, develop, and manage cases, including gathering facts, interviewing clients, and making independent recommendations. Review documents, analyze, draft, and prepare responses to public records requests. Prepare administrative documents, reports, board letters, and agreements. Review policies and procedures and recommend improvements. Serve as a Project Manager on legal initiatives—monitoring scope, quality, budget, and schedules. Participate in special projects, committees, and task forces across the organization. E‑File documents in all state and federal courts in the form and manner required. Organize and manage large volumes of documents with appropriate software or vendors for internal use and in coordination with outside counsel. Interact with Metropolitan staff and members of the Metropolitan Board. Provide administrative assistance and support during trial. Monitor cases of interest to Metropolitan. Schedule 44/36, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm. Hybrid Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, paralegal certificate from a paralegal training program approved by the American Bar Association or a U.S. Department of Education nationally recognized accrediting agency, and at least six years of paralegal experience; OR Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited law school and at least four years of relevant legal experience; OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a signed declaration from an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years stating the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks, and at least six years of paralegal experience; OR Two years in an MWD Legal Analyst classification.
