Patients in this unit range in age from young adult to geriatric, however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion.A caregiver in this position works nights| 7:00pm—7:30am.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and across departments to support patient careEnsure continuity of care between shifts; coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily operationsReview major operational and patient care issues with Nurse ManagersProvide ongoing clinical evaluation of nursing and patient care staffCounsel staff on performance, initiates corrective actions, and monitors attendanceEscalate significant clinical or performance concerns to the Nurse ManagerParticipate in interviewing, hiring, and performance appraisalsMonitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelinesEnsure compliance with Nursing Institute, departmental, and organizational policies and proceduresSupervise and participate in daily patient care deliveryDevelop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all shiftsSupport quality improvement, outcomes research, and committee participationAssist with orientation, continuing education, and in-service programsPerform other duties as assignedMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursingBachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification must be presented upon hireIf in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment2 years recent clinical nurse experiencePhysical Requirements:Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
