Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing routine and critical respiratory and cardiology diagnostic/therapeutic procedures. Respiratory Therapist serves as a technical and clinical resource for physicians and clinical staff. Essential job duties include ensuring all quality controls and maintenance with documentation on ABG machines, completing all billing and ensuring the patient record accurately reflects all billable procedures and treatments, completing oxygen rounds within assigned area by end of the shift, and performing arterial blood gas testing per hospital policy and procedures. Other key responsibilities include IPPB therapy, medicated nebulizer/MDI therapy, oxygen therapy, chest-physio therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including chest compressions, manual ventilation, and airway care.

Qualifications include education/training/experience of 1 year of acute and critical care experience as a respiratory care practitioner preferred, graduate from an AMA/CoARC approved program to train respiratory care practitioners required, associates degree in respiratory care preferred, certification by the state of California as a respiratory care practitioner required, active credential as a CRT by the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) required, RRT credential required, current BLS (AHA) required, NRP certification (within 90 days of hire), ACLS certification (AHA and within 90 days of hire), and PALS certification (within 90 days of hire).
