Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Veterinary Technician Assistant/Receptionist to join our team in Port Jefferson, NY. This dual-role position involves providing support to our veterinary technicians and doctors, as well as managing front desk responsibilities to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for our clients and their pets.
Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal care, including handling, restraint, and basic medical procedures.
• Prepare treatment areas and equipment for examinations and procedures.
• Monitor and care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, cleaning, and exercising as needed.
• Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage client communications professionally and courteously.
• Greet clients and their pets upon arrival, ensuring a positive and friendly first impression.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update client information in the system.
• Process payments, handle billing, and manage daily cash register operations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and treatment rooms.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in veterinary technology or related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
• Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Work Environment

This position is based in our Port Jefferson clinic and involves working closely with animals and clients. The role requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of animals or equipment.
