The Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) is responsible for the management of their designated unit/department, including nursing practice and administrative oversight of the area. In conjunction with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager, the ANOM provides guidance and direction on all aspects of unit operations including customer experience, budgetary performance, human resources activities, shared leadership, and quality outcomes. Responsibilities Essential Functions Shared 24/7 accountability with Nursing Operations Manager Participate in recruitment and selection of new team members via interviews, peer selection, and candidate evaluation Coordinate with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and Human Resources for corrective action, progressive discipline, and career advancement Investigate event reports and provide feedback to both Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and team members Oversee schedules to ensure the proper mix of staff is available each shift for appropriate patient care Maintain oversight of patient flow and intervene as needed to achieve expected outcomes Perform Nurse Leader rounds and reviews to identify variance from nursing best practice and regulatory or hospital standards; participate in process/quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes and standard work Ensure the customer experience is upheld and provide service recovery to patients and families as needed Interface with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation in patient care, and coordinate nursing activities Participate and/or lead staff meetings, GEMBA board, or huddles; demonstrate ownership of unit and outcomes Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Respect the rights and privacy of others and maintain staff member information in strict confidence Ensure incident reports are completed appropriately and follow up with event reports as needed Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures Leadership Express ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication to team members and groups Advocate on behalf of nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients, families, and staff Implement strategies that promote education, health, and safety Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion Demonstrate collaborative and collegial relationship skills, engage staff in decision‑making, and exhibit effective conflict resolution skills Role‑model professional behaviors and serve as a mentor to coach team members and colleagues Promote a safe working environment; support and coordinate any follow‑up related to WPV occurrences Human Resource Management Manage various human resources functions including recruitment/selection, retention, supervision, coaching, and productivity Assist with the clinical evaluation of team members, complete written clinical performance evaluations, and conduct timely assessments Ensure compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education for team members Influence team members to enhance their abilities and promote professional development Appropriate Clinical Practice Knowledge Support the Professional Practice Model values – clinical excellence and caring practice Demonstrate superior clinical and critical‑thinking skills for assigned unit/department Performance/Quality Improvement Monitor compliance and outcomes to identify issues and trends; lead the team on process/quality improvement initiatives Ensure practice changes are evidence‑based, promote high‑quality nursing practice, and are consistent with research, organization, and national standards Financial Management Manage time and resources efficiently to maximize unit/department productivity Promote cost‑effective management of equipment and supplies Personal and Professional Accountability Participate in activities that promote personal and professional growth and development Maintain active membership in a professional organization Uphold ethical standards of practice Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred MSN, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or BSN with a graduate degree in business or health‑related field preferred Licensure/Certification Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) Experience Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute setting #J-18808-Ljbffr Orlando Health
