We are looking for a qualified Assistant Director of Nursing to assist with the managing, directing and supervising the coordination of all clinical services at our facility. Our ideal candidate has solid experience as a registered nurse with management and psychiatric experience and is able to multitask and maintain a positive, professional demeanor. This position requires team management skills and a problem-solving attitude. Further training in management or administration would be a bonus. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure smooth nursing operation at our facility through day-to-day management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduate of an accredited hospital or school of professional nursing (diploma or baccalaureate program).

2. Currently registered in New Jersey.

3. 2 plus years of experience in nursing leadership

4. Experienced in supervision and teaching in a behavioral Health setting.

5. Knowledge of DOH and Federal regulations as they relate to behavioral health.

6. Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate nursing staff

7. Advanced knowledge of psychotropic Medication Management.

8. Lead by example

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ADON takes the management lead over specific duties and of the facility by directing and supervising the coordination of all services and assists the DON with the managerial and clinical activities of the facility.

PART 1: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS

1. Takes lead over units and conducts staff meetings regularly to keep nursing staff informed.

2. Completes investigations in a timely manner and reports to the DON and the IDCP Team when appropriate.

3. Works as a team member with all other departments to give optimum level of care, fosters a team approach.

4. Monitors nursing staff compliance with documentation.

5. Coordinate and integrate the nursing service with other services to provide a continuum of care for the patients.

6. Maintain professional relationships with patients and their families regarding methods of meeting the nursing care needs and other related problems of the patient.

7. Conducts chart audits regularly and monitors nursing staff (RN and MHW) compliance with all required MDS 3.0 documentation.

8. Delegates/completes Pharmacy Consultant’s Report in a timely manner.

9. Oversees nursing staff to make sure that patients’ needs are being met properly. Conducts daily quality rounds.

10. Able to organize & prioritize daily work and meet deadlines for assigned projects. Requests deadline extension when unable to meet target dates.

11. Monitors/delegates compliance and accuracy of Monthly Re-Caps done by nurses of respective units.

12. Reviews the nursing staff 24 Hr Reports and aids in bringing patient’s issues to the morning meetings for resolution.

13. Monitors compliance with: Narcotics Count, Glucometer’s function testing Emergency Equipment daily check.

14. Attends all meeting related to patients care as applicable: Nursing Management, Family Meetings, Morning Meetings, QA Meetings, etc.

15. Monitor staff documentation of new admissions/re-admissions and develops respective treatment plans.

10. Attends mandatory and scheduled in-services/meetings.

11. Keeps current on new and revised DOH and Federal Regulations.

PART III: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

1. Demonstrate the ability to handle stressful situations.

2. Must be able to write & speak the English language.

3. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity & ability to work effectively with patients, family members, personnel & support agencies.

4. Ability to relate and work with the physically and emotionally challenged patient.

Standard shift:

· Day shift- Possible 11-7 shift available

Weekly schedule:

· Monday to Friday

· On-Call monthly for emergencies

· Must be available for support during emergency situations (extreme weather, survey, etc.)
