Staff Accountant

Seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to support all accounting and bookkeeping functions for Katherine Mueller Design and CeTerra Accents & Interiors located in the Scottsdale Design Center. In this position, you will play a vital role in managing all financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, client and vendor billing, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and forecasting. Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Process accounts payables for client billing and vendor payments including, but not limited to, the preparation of itemized client invoices and other billables using purchase orders, vendor invoices, employee time records, rate schedules, freight charges, etc. Collaborate with the Owner/Principal Designer and Order Coordinator on the timeliness of certain client invoices particularly with open furniture or construction progress payments or freight charges. Process accounts receivables for incoming payments including, but not limited to, the receipt of payments, accurate posting to client and/or other accounts, reconcile discrepancies and follow-up on late payments. Prepare and send payment for merchandise and goods for the CeTerra Accents & Interiors Showroom and the general office. Verify and enter account adjustments and credits. Where needed, assist clients with inquiries, account discrepancies, account reconciliation, and general account maintenance. Ensure appropriate levels of internal control by following general accounting best practices and company processes seeking the appropriate approvals and authorizations for client billing and/or follow-up. Maintain an organized system and use the company’s accounting software to ensure accurate records of bank accounts, financial data, journal and ledger entries, invoices, payments, returns, credits, and supporting documents. Review financial accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences. Ensure cost controls are in place and monitored. Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. Prepare or assist in the preparation of taxes and annual W2 and 1099 vendor forms. Report to the Owners about asset utilization and provide insight and/or recommend changes in operations and financial activities. Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses. Provide advice as needed.. Assist with or be responsible for processing of employee payroll. Prepare and/or update reports as directed. Maintain clear, timely and professional communication at all times, both with internal and external customers. Other duties as assigned. Experience/Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related field. A minimum of 5 years of relative accounting experience. Experience in retail inventory and construction billing helpful. Ability to prepare, analyze, and report on financial reports and data. Proficient with all Microsoft products including Excel, email and internet; proficiency with Quickbooks required. Experience with Lightspeed POS preferred. Ability to perform math functions and analysis to ensure all purchase transactions, financial reports, and measurements are accurate.
