Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room / Adult Admission Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 4x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:00) | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | 10-week minimum assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Adult Admission Unit (AAU) functioning as an inpatient holding unit adjacent to the Emergency Department, managing admitted patients until placement on a progressive care unit
• Monitor, interpret, and manage telemetry and dysrhythmias for a diverse patient population across all specialties except ICU-level acuity
• Manage frequent patient turnover — both admissions from the ED and transfers out to inpatient units — across a 17-bed unit with up to 8 hall beds at a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Operate and manage a variety of medical equipment while maintaining strong time management across a high-acuity, high-volume environment
• Float as required to adjacent ED (admitted patients), ICU (sub-acute care assignments), and inpatient PCU areas within scope of practice
• Serve as relief charge nurse as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending RN license (most certifications and licensure may be pending at time of submission)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale — RQI certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; Emergency Room experience required for this role
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption documentation
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; non-local driver's license required on file
• After 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments at this facility (whichever comes first), a 6-month system break is required before returning; former permanent staff must have a 12-month separation before being eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience (preferred for ER placement)
• Experience with telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records
• Comfort working in high-acuity, high-turnover inpatient or ED-adjacent environments
