Senior Health Educator

About this role


Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Senior Health Educator. The Senior Health Educator (SHE) will assist with administrative efforts and coordinate with a Public Health team to help prepare and facilitate related training. This position will work within the Education Sector Partnership and Programming Unit which convenes and manages relationships with K-12 schools throughout LA County to assure inclusive engagement in programmatic efforts, policy development, and resource allocations and alignment.


The positions will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and are initially funded through 12/31/26, with the good chance of extension.


Pay Rate: $37.20/hr working 40 hours a week


Location : Position will be hybrid 2 days in office and 3 days telework that will include travel to schools as well as some evening and weekend work.

Job Duties:

• Support with programmatic oversight of public health initiatives by planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs within school settings
• Develop, present and train lay people, professionals and others in public health topics and issues as well as provide scientifically based information to groups and the community
• Provide technical assistance to internal and external partners in understanding and complying with LACDPH programmatic requirements
• Bilingual in Spanish (Able to speak, read, and write)
• Ability to use data systems and trackers to provide health program oversight
• Maintain accurate records/data and provides comprehensive reports to Leadership
• Work with school administrators and other key stakeholders to ensure program fidelity and compliance
• Attend in-person and virtual meetings, health education/promotion community events across LA County and other activities as needed (some evenings may be required).
• Ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude and work ethic
• Ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals
• Excellent critical thinking and judgment skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Willing to travel in Los Angeles County and work some evenings

Requirements:

• A master's degree with specialization in public health education or community health education in a program of study accredited by the American Public Health Association or equivalent, as required under California Law -AND- two years of public health education experience; and
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of
  transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
