Patent Attorney - Life Sciences (Biotech / Pharma) Location: Boston, US Overview A highly regarded, boutique intellectual property firm is seeking a Patent Attorney with a strong life sciences background to join its growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and cutting-edge matters in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and related fields. Key Responsibilities Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications Work closely with inventors, scientists, and in-house counsel Conduct: Patentability analyses Freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses Validity and infringement assessments Support IP due diligence for transactions and licensing matters Provide strategic intellectual property guidance to clients Collaborate with attorneys and technical specialists on complex patent matters Technical Focus Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals Molecular biology, genetics, therapeutics Diagnostics, antibodies, gene therapy Qualifications Ph.D. (or equivalent advanced degree) in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related field USPTO registration required ~3-5+ years of patent prosecution experience (more senior candidates also considered) Strong academic credentials Excellent written and verbal communication skills Benefits $170,000 - $250,000 base salary (depending on experience and level) Potential Bonus Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer contribution Paid time off + holidays Flexible / hybrid work environment Professional development and mentorship opportunities
