Patent Attorney – Life Sciences (Biotech / Pharma)

Overview

A highly regarded, boutique intellectual property firm is seeking a Patent Attorney with a strong life sciences background to join its growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and cutting-edge matters in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and related fields.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications
• Work closely with inventors, scientists, and in-house counsel
• Conduct:
  • Patentability analyses
  • Freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses
  • Validity and infringement assessments
• Support IP due diligence for transactions and licensing matters
• Provide strategic intellectual property guidance to clients
• Collaborate with attorneys and technical specialists on complex patent matters

Technical Focus

• Biotechnology
• Pharmaceuticals
• Molecular biology, genetics, therapeutics
• Diagnostics, antibodies, gene therapy

Qualifications

• Ph.D. (or equivalent advanced degree) in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related field
• USPTO registration required
• ~3–5+ years of patent prosecution experience (more senior candidates also considered)
• Strong academic credentials
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
