Deputy Director of Intervention Quality Initiatives Unit, Bureau of Early Intervention

Early Intervention (EI) is a comprehensive interagency program that supports infants and children with developmental delays by providing timely therapeutic services to help them reach their full potential. The EI program also empowers families to meet their own needs and ensures access to services to all eligible children regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, immigration status, or income. The EIP is legally mandated under Title II-A, 2552 of Article 25 of the NYS PHL to ensure that eligible children receive therapeutic services as soon as possible, and it has been recognized as an essential service during COVID-19 by NYS. The Intervention Quality Initiatives (IQI) Unit works in advancing health equity, improving service quality, and strengthening workforce capacity through professional development, technical assistance, and partnerships with academic institutions. Additional initiatives include innovative parent and EI provider text messaging programs designed to enhance communication, engagement, and access to services.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Supervise the Intervention Quality Initiatives (IQI) Team Create and deliver professional development materials and trainings Review and summarize research and literature Create and deliver professional development materials and trainings; review and summarize research and literature Create, edit, and review content for reports, presentations, text messages and related materials and participate in or facilitate meetings with internal and external partners Write reports, summaries, policies and procedures and review data and summarize findings Develop and write scopes for consultant and academic contracts, and manage procurement process in collaboration with EI Administration Why you should work for us: Loan Forgiveness: As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal/state loan forgiveness and repayment assistance programs that lessen your payments or even fully forgive your full balance. Coordinate the collection and reporting of data for IQI projects, and write analysis and reports PREFERRED SKILLS: Licensed or certified professional in early childhood special education, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, social work, psychology, or physical therapy. Minimally have a Masters-level education. Supervisory experience Knowledge of typical and a typical early childhood development, ages birth to three years Knowledge of the NYC Early Intervention Program, its regulations, policies, and procedures and of the NYS DOHBEI Competency Areas for Evidence-Based Evaluations and Services Outstanding verbal communication skills and excellent written communication skills Knowledge and utilization of adult learning principles Strong organizational and multitasking skills to meet both short and long-term deadlines Ability to work both independently and facilitate, coordinate, and participate in teamwork Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysisCITY RESEARCH SCIENTIST - 21744
Minimum Qualifications 1. For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health. To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have: 1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or 2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above. NOTE: Probationary Period Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
