Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and providing holistic care for patients. This role involves evaluating total patient care needs and adhering to the directives of professional and regulatory bodies. The RN will demonstrate proficiency in physical assessments, decision-making, and the delivery of age-appropriate patient care, including medication and treatment administration in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Deliver comprehensive care to patients, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and protocols.
• Conduct patient-family education to enhance understanding and management of health conditions.
• Accurately document all patient care activities in electronic medical records.
• Delegate tasks to other levels of care providers within the department as needed.
• Engage in discharge planning to ensure a seamless transition for patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of hospital nursing experience.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) is required.
• Current Minnesota RN license.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required within one year of hire.
