Sterile Processing Technician

Responsibilities include working independently and collaboratively with department managers to coordinate the orientation process and provide in the department education of new equipment, products, and processes. Develop and provide department educational programs regarding proper decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization methods. Create and evaluate skills and competency of Sterile Processing technicians, adhering to the governing agencies' guidelines and standards. Act as a resource, liaison, and employee educator to the nursing units and ancillary departments that utilize the Sterile Processing Department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training

Minimum Work Experience

Two years Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience

Required Licenses/Certifications

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST); Central Supply Processing Department Tech (CSPDT); Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required. Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) within 12 months of hire date.
