Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset including: - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Trach care - PIV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) - PCA pumps - Medication gtt management to include cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced RN specializing in MedSurg/Tele. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients. Common patient diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA. Patient ratios will vary based on unit and acuity, with typical ratios being 1:4 to 1:7 based on patient needs. Support is provided by CNAs who are responsible for completing vitals, blood sugars, hygiene care, and assisting with patient needs. Nursing staff is supported by a secretary who assists with administrative tasks, a resource nurse available on long-term contracts, and hospitalists covering patient care 24/7. The telemetry monitoring is managed by nurses on the unit, with charge nurses assisting as needed. Floating to other facilities may be required based on regional needs, and travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities. Weekend rotation and holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays, with up to 6 days off approved for RTO, excluding holidays. This role emphasizes teamwork and fostering a supportive family-like environment within the department. Scrub color is navy blue.
