PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (STARLINK)SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and provides fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class engineers to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the globe.In this position, you will wear numerous hats and engage a broad set of technical fields to drive the design, production, and launch of Starlink products. Projects may include launching new Starlink kits, establishing new and innovative production lines, spearheading massive insourcing projects, and more. In this role, you'll get a unique glimpse into the high-level workings of the program and the launch process for new products.RESPONSIBILITIES:Own a product from design to launch – work with stakeholders to define the roadmap, make the product manufacturable at rate, ensure the design is best suited for the customer, coordinate product mapping, and drive launch to target international marketsServe as key technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to ensure production meets targets and product launch is successfulServe as the business point of contact between internal and external customers and coordinate with stakeholders from the business, UX, and engineering teams throughout the NPI phase of a projectTranslate new product strategies into business requirements and technical deliverables to ensure new product introduction meets business needsIdentify opportunities for improvement via market research, data analysis, and beta testing campaignsSupport engineering failure analysis and root cause investigation during initial roll out and early production of new productsMotivate and support peers to achieve program goalsPrepare relevant updates & deliverables to senior managementBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or physics5+ years of experience leading engineering projectsPREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:3+ years of industry experience managing product technical requirements3+ years of industry experience in mechanical or electrical product design3+ years of industry experience with project management (technical scope, schedule, cost)Prior experience with the full consumer-facing hardware product life cycleCapable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision and on scheduleDemonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional roleAbility to work in a fast-paced, autonomously driven, and demanding startup atmosphereExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed - up to 10%ITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
