San Diego Youth Services JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Clinical Coordinator San Diego Youth Services seeks a Clinical Coordinator in the Sunny Days program to be based in San Diego. This is a full-time & exempt position reporting to the Director of Quality Management. San Diego Youth Services: Who we are San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 834,000 homeless, runaway and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 16,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless. Meet the basic needs of youth. Hunger, poverty and youth homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more vital than food and shelter? We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing. Create positive connection. We help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed resources and services. San Diego Youth Services has long provided foster homes and adoption support services for families considering adopting a youth in the foster care system. Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support to help youth develop the independent living skills necessary to become self-sufficient and keep off the streets. Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support and resources. SDYS has a staff of approximately 250 employees and 80 volunteers working across San Diego County and an annual budget of approximately $24 million. You can learn more about us at CONTEXT OF THE POSITION: The Clinical Coordinator supports the delivery and coordination of comprehensive behavioral health services within the Sunny Days Program, working collaboratively with the Clinical Supervisor and Director. The Sunny Days Program promotes resilience, emotional wellness, and recovery for youth and young adults ages 4–25 through individual, family, and group counseling, psychiatry services, equine-assisted therapy, and community-based mental health supports. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating therapy, psychiatry, and equine-assisted service referrals; screening and assigning cases to clinical interns and trainees; and supporting trainee development through mentoring, shadowing, and clinical guidance. The position maintains a small clinical caseload and may conduct intake assessments, crisis intervention, risk assessments, treatment planning, care coordination, referrals to community resources. The Clinical Coordinator will work closely with Director and Clinical Supervision team to provide consultation, monitor service delivery, and help ensure the provision of high-quality, trauma-informed, youth-centered care. This role supports the development and maintenance of integrated treatment approaches for youth with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders while promoting positive outcomes for youth and families across program services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The development, implementation, and evaluation of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma-informed youth programs that adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of San Diego Youth Services as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality. Assist the Director with coordination, training, and support of clinical interns/trainees and monitoring of clinical services provided by the Sunny Days Program. Assist the Program Manager in the preparation of Sunny Days and requested reports. Ensure contract compliance by coordinating and conducting internal audits and file reviews. Work closely in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, Director, and community partners to ensure needs are met and support services are readily available. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff and volunteers within the program, the center, the agency, and the community. Facilitate weekly Intern/ Trainee team meetings and provide program support and consultation as needed. Participate in carrying out agency plans and vision. Participate in appropriate agency-wide committees as applicable. Attend all required meetings and country training of the agency. Maintain accurate and timely uniform record documentation. Maintain data collection and contract compliance material of the records as required. Maintain clear, effective, and open communication within the team and among community partners. Provide home visiting services as needed. Work with youth and families to reduce disparities and stigma in accessing mental health services and to provide high-quality services to youth and families. Provide short-term individual and family therapy. Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team with Director and other SDYS Program staff as appropriate Work collaboratively with community partners, law enforcement, and government agencies to coordinate services. Coordinate fielding therapy referrals and assigning referrals to clinical interns/trainees; and provide risk assessments and crisis intervention, resources, and support services to youth/families. If appropriate, facilitate equine therapy and learning services. Care coordination with area mental health support and services as well as other needed services for youth/families with depression, other mental health problems, substance abuse or a history of trauma. Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partners’ protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance with agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA. Participate in implementing the agency’s resource development plan as appropriate. Maintain a working knowledge of MIS equipment. Maintain the program’s space. Report and coordinate any necessary facility or equipment repairs with the Director as needed. With other staff, participate in the maintenance of the day-to-day cleanliness and order of the physical facility and grounds. Maintain a warm and welcoming environment. Respond to service partners during a crisis or urgent matter, including those that occur outside of normal business operating hours as appropriate and in coordination with Director and Clinical Supervision team. Perform other related duties as assigned. SDYS EXPECTATIONS: Adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles, and standards of quality. Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service partner-protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance with agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws including HIPAA. Welcome and support SDYS volunteers and assist them in accomplishing their services whenever applicable. Effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Recognize, nurture, and learn from strengths in co-workers. Maintain warm, welcoming, and safe work environments. Possess flexibility to accomplish job responsibilities in several work environments, whether it be from home, on the road, or in an office. Employment is subject to required clearances which include tuberculosis test, fingerprinting, background checks, and drug testing. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. License-eligible in Marital and Family Therapy, Social Work, Professional Counseling or Psychology by the state of California, and a minimum of one year of job-related experience, including working with adolescent females and their families. Must be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Science and must be in good standing, please indicate the AMFT, ASW, or APCC associate number in application. Preferred willingness or possessing working knowledge in providing equine therapy. Must possess excellent oral and written skills and be able to provide services to small and large groups of youth and adults. Must work well autonomously as well as with other agencies and program staff in varying disciplines. Must be highly organized with the ability to focus on multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Creativity and a sense of humor are a must. Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred. Must maintain CPR/First-Aid Certification. Must have a reliable vehicle and relevant auto insurance, plus a clean driving record (mileage reimbursed). Must be available to work weekends and evenings as assigned by supervisor and/or as needed. Employment is subject to clearances, which may include fingerprinting, background checks, TB testing, and drug testing.
